Hi, THESPIRITSSTEPINSIDE! Yes, I've sent you a PM with the link. Please reply with the code the signup form gives you and I will approve your account. It will last for about
a week (Hivetime)/two weeks(CORtime) before being terminated as a guest unless you ask for an extension or join the Hive. You'll be able to make threads in the "Questions"
board and replies elsewhere; feel free to ask anything of my fellow Hive members and they will gladly answer!
Hi Quale, I appreciate your enthusiasm but there is no "Secret Sessy-Worshipping Board". Sorry to disappoint ;) I am sure it would get riotous activity, though! |

AcrossVoidspace22:
What did you want to talk about that can't be said in the thread? Not that I mind, it's just. I promise nobody reads anything in it unless they're a regular or it gets reported,
and there really isn't that many more regulars left hahaha.
Sent 19:03
spacesbetweenwalls:
It's nothing bad! I promise. I just uhm. Shouldn't post about this publically I don't think
Sent 19:04
spacesbetweenwalls:
You said you were interesed in Originals, right?
Sent 19:04
AcrossVoidspace22:
Yeah. I consider myself a bit of a traveller, if you haven't already caught on Lol. I've ticked a lot of places off my bucket list but I've never managed to make it to an Original
yet. I've been thinking about really making an effort to get to Eta in more recent years, though. It's kind of an open secret that it lets outsiders in, and the COR kind of turns a
blind eye, if you catch my drift.
Sent 19:07
spacesbetweenwalls:
What interests you about them? Like, why do you want to visit one? Just to tick it off the list?
Sent 19:07
AcrossVoidspace22:
Partially, yeah. It would be amazing to be able to say I've visited all sorts of TLs, without limit. And not many people see Originals. So I guess it's in part clout, but
also I just genuinely like seeing stranger TLs. Something beautiful about how amazing the variety of life and magic can get. You know? And the Originals are sort of the crown jewel of
that. First stabs at creation and all that. I actually used to spend a lot of time reading about them, so I know vaguely about each one, and all it did was make me more curious to see them.
Sent 19:09
AcrossVoidspace22:
You good? You've been typing for a while.
Sent 19:13
spacesbetweenwalls:
Sorry yeah I'm okay
Sent 19:14
spacesbetweenwalls:
Trying to figure out how to say this but I guess I should just say it. I'm from one of the Originals
Sent 19:14
AcrossVoidspace22:
Really? Which one?
Sent 19:17
spacesbetweenwalls:
Delta.
Sent 19:17
AcrossVoidspace22:
Are you serious right now? Delta?? When did Delta get opened? You're one of its Naturals?
Sent 19:18
spacesbetweenwalls:
Yes. Um. Quite a while ago actually. And yes. My name is Ausana. The other is named Ery.
Sent 19:19
AcrossVoidspace22:
Ah stars. I was just searching and the Voidpedia doesn't have any new information on Delta. I can see why you didn't want to make this public if those editors haven't gotten this info
yet. Holy shit. Is it ok if I ask you more questions? Sorry. This is really exciting. Can you prove your identity somehow? Picture with something that resonates with Delta?
Sent 19:20
spacesbetweenwalls:
Does this work? And yes I'm ok with questions! I don't think I could, um, smuggle you into Delta though. I'm not sure how much of a secret it's supposed to be, but I definitely
wouldn't be allowed to bring an outsider in. So I hope the questions are enough...!
Sent 19:22
AcrossVoidspace22:
Yes! Ah that's fantastic! Questions will definitely be enough for me (for now, at least, until maybe the COR unveils Delta?).
Sent 19:22
AcrossVoidspace22:
Stars this is so incredible. Well firstly what's Delta like? Were you always aware you were a Fragment? What sort of things do you two (you and Ery) do to protect the TL? I'm under the
impression that the Originals usually have a rough time of it but def correct me if I'm wrong!
Sent 19:23
spacesbetweenwalls:
Oh man. Okay haha. Well it's um. It's made up of a lot of nesting layers? From my understanding most Timelines aren't like that, they have... bubbles? Of sub-space in them instead.
Subspace that is made by its "Gladar". Um, I don't think we have any Gladar, and nobody makes new subspace here. It was all part of the Timeline naturally. People dug up from the lowest/
deepest layer, and conquered the above ones. The war's uhm, they've died down since, there's a lot less fighting, mostly just occasional subjugation of rebels.
Sent 19:26
AcrossVoidspace22:
Subjugation of rebels???
Sent 19:26
spacesbetweenwalls:
I didn't always know I was a Fragment. Um, our god system works a little bit differently over here... like, we didn't have any Gladar, and we don't have anything else on the charts I've
seen. Maybe we do? But we don't use those words for them. We didn't find out about the word Fragment until Delta opened, which was when we broke through the outermost layer. Ery and I are
mostly peacekeepers, basically. Make sure everything is running smoothly, nothing's seriously going wrong.
Sent 19:28
spacesbetweenwalls:
Oh yeah rebels! There's always a group popping up here and there, you have to smack them around a bit usually. It's not too much effort. Usually you can just kill their leader and the
group dissolves; they depend heavily on charisma and cults of personality to form. You'd expect them to become martyrs, but making their death humiliating usually puts a stop to that. Make
them sob and whine for their life, you know? It's hard to admire your powerful leader when they're pissing and pleading on the floor.
Sent 19:30
AcrossVoidspace22:
What was breaking through the outermost layer like? Why did you and Ery do that? Actually, how did you accomplish that?
Sent 19:31
AcrossVoidspace22:
Holy shit. That's brutal
Sent 19:31
AcrossVoidspace22:
I mean a lot of the Originals are brutal like that, I guess. Do you ever get jealous of Connected TLs?
Sent 19:32
spacesbetweenwalls:
Oh, uh, it wasn't us exactly that breached the outermost layer. That was handled by, um, the deep layer company. We were there when the breach happened, though! Everyone was very surprised
there wasn't any ground or people around (breaching takes a while, and a lot of the time upper layers would notice cracks in the ground, haha). We spent some time exploring around voidspace
before finding another Fragment who kind of caught us up to speed. I can't exactly share the method though, I'm not 100% on it (tech is more Ery's thing) and it's company secrets, anyways.
Sent 19:38
spacesbetweenwalls:
Oh, I haven't gotten a chance to talk to many of the other Originals yet. I've heard of them in passing and stuff, though. I really want to meet some of them. You talked really highly
of Eta, I want to visit there!
Sent 19:39
AcrossVoidspace22:
Eta's great. Aryl - he's one of the Eta Frags - he'd love you. I met him once when he was at HQ for something inane, I don't even remember. He was dressed in this garish sparkly purple
suit and was chatting off the Overseer's ear about whatever it was - some regulation or whatever. He just seemed so happy, so upbeat.
Sent 19:40
spacesbetweenwalls:
I don't really know a lot about Connected Timelines yet. I vaguely understand them (they are connected to another Timeline?) but obviously I've never been to one yet or anything. I guess
sometimes I think, oh, they're super stable, I wonder what that's like. But I've heard the other Originals Fragments talking about their Timelines, and the way they talk about instability is.
Strange? Delta doesn't have the issues they talk about. I don't know what's keeping it so stable. I assume it's some sort of technology we have that the others don't?
Sent 19:42
AcrossVoidspace22:
If it's some sort of tech, you've definitely got to show it to the COR. They'll jump through hoops to implement it across the entire Originals space, if it's kept Delta stable for so
long. Part of me wonders if Delta being sealed off to the outer world contributed, though? A lot of TL instability comes from OOT poking around in a TL's guts. Technically Frags
count, though, so you and Ery...? I'm not sure. I'm not a TL scholar haha. I just like reading about weird ones.
Sent 19:45
spacesbetweenwalls:
Aryl does sound nice. What did he look like? I would definitely like to meet him! I've been trying to access some websites for information but it's really hard to connect to them for
some reason. I don't even know why I could connect to this website, actually, if I'm being honest. I really appreciated the pictures you sent in thread, though, because I hadn't seen
pictures of Eta before. It reminds me of a few lower layers in Delta.
Sent 19:45
AcrossVoidspace22:
I can def get you more pictures then! It's not at all a trouble to bust out the books and get you scanned versions. They might be a little outdated (my copies aren't exactly new) but
hey, pictures is pictures. I wouldn't know if they're outdated Lol. The UUFB has some weird nodes in voidspace, including a few near some of the Originals. Maybe you could connect to one
of those nodes?
Sent 19:49
spacesbetweenwalls:
Oh maybe. I'm not very savvy with this Internet stuff. We have our own sort-of Internet but there's not a lot of websites on it, most of them are owned by the deep layers and are mostly
for news and stuff. Ery calls it propaganda, sort of thing. And yes, I would love more pictures. You said you were an orphan Fragment? That means you weren't born into a Timeline, right?
Sent 19:50
AcrossVoidspace22:
Yep. It's not something I'm sad about or anything, though. BTW my name is Odynia, I realized I never gave it to you. I'm technically COR but only by a margin. I do some contract work
for them (mostly exploratory stuff, some TL tinkering, that sort of thing) and I think I'm technically in Research/Remove but not really, you know? Actually, how many COR operatives have
you spoken to? Met Jubilee yet?
Sent 19:55
AcrossVoidspace22:
Also here's some more pics of Eta. Including one of Aryl. He looks the same as when I saw him at HQ, just wearing some different clothes.

spacesbetweenwalls:
Odynia... that's a lovely name, thank you! And thank you for these pictures. They take forever to save onto my computer but it's definitely worth it. They're so cool... hehe I'm kind
of excited to see the picture of Aryl? Haha anyways. I haven't spoken to many of them. The one that we found after we breached voidspace, uhm, a few others that mostly took down
demographic information and wanted to "check the health" of the Timeline's heart, but our Grand Leader forbid them from entering. I think that's around when Jubilee showed up and asked
our Grand Leader personally, and he seemed a little coldly mad that Leader said no. Nobody's really allowed in the deepest layer anyways, so it wasn't a surprise.
Sent 20:01
AcrossVoidspace22:
Sorry, "Grand Leader"?
Sent 20:01
spacesbetweenwalls:
Yes, they're from one of the deepest layers and founded a lot of Delta's infrastructure and governing and stuff. They end up making almost all of the regulations and laws, though the
board of directors also votes on them. So when they said no, that was final.
Sent 20:05
AcrossVoidspace22:
Huh. So is it like kind of an Alpha situation?
Sent 20:07
spacesbetweenwalls:
What? Alpha?
Sent 20:07
AcrossVoidspace22:
Like the Alpha TL. Sorry, it's really complicated. They have a mortal leader though (sort of two? Like I said it's complicated). I was just surprised to hear Delta was led by a mortal,
too.
Sent 20:09
spacesbetweenwalls:
Ah well our Grand Leader isn't really mortal! I mean, they're older than Ery and I. I guess you could consider them a Gladar? But I've never seen them make any subspaces or anything. I
guess that's just not something Delta "does".
Sent 20:11
AcrossVoidspace22:
Oh haha you guys make that distinction? That's cute. A lot of Frags don't bother. I guess we all feel old and wizened, huh?
Sent 20:12
spacesbetweenwalls:
...Distinction? They're significantly older than Ery and I, I promise! You're making it sound like it's tiny.
Sent 20:13
AcrossVoidspace22:
Oh. I thought you meant the whole... it took a while for Genesis and Bereave to shatter and "shower the world with Fragments" thing, so a lot of TLs already had some history. I guess the
Originals had a longer time than most. Sorry. I've not really talked with anyone from any Originals before, not one-on-one like this, so I guess a lot of my biases and assumptions are
slipping through.
Sent 20:14
spacesbetweenwalls:
It's okay! I've never talked to anyone from outside of Delta meaningfully either. It's a breath of fresh air for me... it's really exciting actually! I was nervous to PM you but I've
been reading your posts for a while and you seemed really genuine and friendly, so I took the chance... I'm glad to get to talk to you even now. Does that sound weird? I'm sorry if it
sounds weird!
Sent 20:16
AcrossVoidspace22:
Aw haha it's not weird, I promise. Maybe some of the others would think so, but I'm def more open-minded than a lot of them. I mean. They're all nice people, you shouldn't feel scared
to post in the thread (maybe not about Delta though) but I also really appreciate you personally coming to me with this. This is a little bit of a dream come true for me, too. Talking with
an Original Frag! And you're super receptive to my questions, even the weirdo invasive ones haha. Does Ery read the forum too?
Sent 20:19
spacesbetweenwalls:
Oof... no, Ery doesn't. I haven't actually told him about the forum yet. I didn't really think to tell him... huh. That feels weird to think about.
Sent 20:21
AcrossVoidspace22:
Oh, are you two not really... close? I know that happens sometimes espec in more high-stress TLs. Sounds like you guys had a lot of war, too. That's always a slog.
Sent 20:24
spacesbetweenwalls:
Ah noooo Ery and I are close!!! Super close, I promise. I usually share everything with him. My brain is like... trying to catch up to the idea that I wasn't going to tell him about
this. Like, uh, just between you and I, I'm not supposed to have this laptop or this Internet connection, if that makes sense. Sometimes Ery and I do other illicit things (not usually
anything really bad, like smuggling or something) but we do it together. Huh.
Sent 20:26
AcrossVoidspace22:
Not "supposed to" have?
Sent 20:27
spacesbetweenwalls:
Yes, our Grand Leader has forbidden a lot of imports of stuff from voidspace. That doesn't really stop anyone, smugglers still bring things in, but it would look very bad if I was
caught with this. I've gotten around it by using it when Ery is training, though. I think a lot of the guards assume I'm training with him or sulking or something and I get a little hour
of freetime every day. I usually hide it in my chassis whenever I'm not using it, and they stopped doing body checks years and years ago so as long as I don't do anything else suspicious
I can't imagine getting in trouble.
Sent 20:30
AcrossVoidspace22:
Do you want to leave Delta?
Sent 20:39
spacesbetweenwalls:
Oh. That's a hard question.
Sent 20:39
spacesbetweenwalls:
My kneejerk response is to say yes. I want to see what else is out there, I want to explore the world properly. I want to see everything that's outside of these walls and live my life.
You know? I want to be someone, something. Out there. There's nothing left for me in here. This place is a - it's like quicksand, it's like. I don't know. I feel like I don't have the words
to articulate it. It's suffocating? But that doesn't really get across the magnitude of how I feel about it. But I know there's something better out there and I want it.
Sent 20:42
spacesbetweenwalls:
At the same time. Ery doesn't want to leave, and I refuse to leave him behind. Fullstop. We're going together or we're not going at all. It was even kind of weird when he started doing
the extra training every day. Having that hour alone, where there's no one else in the room and no one else around me and I can just kind of sit there? Haha, Ery recently starting giving
me a side-eye and keeps saying he should drag me out to train with him that hour, like he doesn't trust me being unattended. I think he got nervous about me saying there's more out there
we should gun for. But I've had those thoughts for years, from before even getting that hour.
Sent 20:45
spacesbetweenwalls:
And, another part of me is nervous, because I see everyone talking about this idea of... loving their Timeline and cherishing and protecting it. And that's what I've been doing my entire
life, under our Grand Leader's orders. I've been protecting Delta and enforcing its peace and laws. There's nothing I wouldn't do to make sure Delta isn't safe. And there's these huge forums
of people talking about going to any lengths, too, of pushing themselves as hard as they can to stop disasters and stuff in their Timelines. Their whole lives revolve around it. And I guess,
a part of me is scared to leave because what will I say to these people when they meet me on the other side? Hello, I abandoned Delta to die? I abandoned an Original to suffering because...
because what? I was selfish?
Sent 20:49
spacesbetweenwalls:
It goes against everything in this culture I've just realized I'm supposed to have. All my peers, my real peers, these other "Fragments" feel selfless and giving and loving towards their
Timelines. And I love Delta but do I love Delta enough that I'm willing to sacrifice myself for it... even more? And if I stay for longer because of this... invisible debt I can't see, when
do I cut that line? When is it enough? Everyone talks like it never ends. Like life forever is just watching over these Timelines and pretending it's fine and happy. That it's wrong to
want more. I see people talk about "unaffiliated" Fragments and the "black market" with derision. Is that the fate I'm hoping for? To trade the shackles Delta forced me into for the hatred
of the people I crave to meet the most?
Sent 20:52
spacesbetweenwalls:
Sorry. I rambled.
Sent 20:53
spacesbetweenwalls:
You don't have to read all that.
Sent 20:54
AcrossVoidspace22:
Nono. You're fine.
Sent 20:55
spacesbetweenwalls:
Thank you :'3
Sent 20:56
AcrossVoidspace22:
This is really heavy stuff. I kind of get what you're saying. I feel like an outsider a lot, too, because of being an orphan. A TL is supposed to be the central part of a Frag's life and...
I just don't have one. I lost the first dice roll. Got unlucky. But then what am I supposed to do with my life, right?
Sent 20:58
AcrossVoidspace22:
I mean fuck. There's a reason a lot of Mag cults and the black market have a really high % of orphans despite how low our actual population is. Call us listless, call us purposeless.
There's not a lot of other purpose out there for Frags. But at the same time, it's not really like we were made with purpose in mind? We're accidents made sentient.
Sent 20:59
spacesbetweenwalls:
Right.
Sent 21:00
AcrossVoidspace22:
But I do understand what you mean. Definitely. I wish I had something more helpful or profound to tell you other than "I get it", because just saying that sucks. But maybe it helps a
little to hear someone else validate it? Not that I can fully understand Delta and what's going on in there, and how you relate to it. The complexity of Originals just adds a whole nother
cream layer on top of that cake. I don't envy it. But I hope things get better for you. And you can always talk to me about any of it. My PMs really are always open.
Sent 21:03
spacesbetweenwalls:
Thank you.
Sent 21:05
spacesbetweenwalls:
Really.
Sent 21:05
AcrossVoidspace22:
Hey. Ausana. Don't sweat it.
Sent 21:07
spacesbetweenwalls:
Hehe. Okay!
Sent 21:07
spacesbetweenwalls:
I'm sorry I can't invite you to visit. You're really passionate about this stuff... it's actually really sweet. Everyone else I've met has kind of treated Delta like a ticking bomb.
Like it'll explode if they mishandle it. Makes me feel even more like a... a poisonous bug in a glass jar. Not a person. But I really feel like you get a part of me. You're a nice
person, Odynia.
Sent 21:10
AcrossVoidspace22:
I can imagine. The COR can be really dehumanizing sometimes with its policies. Blah blah, I know it tries its best, but it can be a lot. It's part of why I'm on these boards and not
its official forums, you know? I'm glad you found this place, too. I'm glad you asked me to PM you.
Sent 21:11
AcrossVoidspace22:
I really do understand why I couldn't visit. But at the same time, I'm dying to meet you in person? And I can't begin to fathom how excited you must be to see more TLs and more of the outer
world! This might be kind of sudden, but would you want to meet up somewhere sometime? I don't have a TL to show you around but I've done some work for other Fragments and they usually
let me crash at theirs when I'm not at HQ... I'd love to invite you to hang out! Or maybe go to that BA-994 party? If you drink?
Sent 21:13
AcrossVoidspace22:
Hahahahaha listen to me I sound like I'm trying to ask you out. I promise this is platonic haha!
Sent 21:14
spacesbetweenwalls:
I've never actually drank before
Sent 21:14
spacesbetweenwalls:
Also no worries!
Sent 21:15
spacesbetweenwalls:
Um, but, besides that, I think I would really love that. Visiting you, I mean! I'm really busy so I don't know when I would get the time to, but I absolutely want to plan something
with you!! I would love to see your friends' Timelines and stuff. And even if I don't drink, I'd love to see BA-994, everyone talks about it all the time!!
Sent 21:17
AcrossVoidspace22:
That sounds great, Ausana. I'll try to have something arranged by-
CLICK.
Ausana didn't move, eyes still locked on the laptop screen. Rather, where it once sat. Firmly closed, Ery's hand splayed over its back, trembling slightly in intensity. Rage? Probably.
He swallowed. Words churned in his gut, but were swiftly replaced by a lump of dreadful guilt. Heart thumped in chest, feeble. Fingers curled into tight fists, against his lap instead
of against the keys.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing?" Ery hissed, voice dripping with sharpness and fury enough to twist the knife right into Ausana's chest.
Every word in his mind died in his throat.
