Biography

The so-called "enforcer" of the Magnitude Fragments - he who lays down the law, as dictated by their leader, Pyatiugolnik. The other Mags, you see, cannot be trusted - drunk off their own power and ego, they'll force their beliefs on how the world should be on every mortal beneath them, ruling as unchallenged and hyperpowerful dictators, if left unchecked. This is the future Kolo fears - and so, enforces Pya's myriad of checks and restrictions on his peers, carrying out orders that he may or may not have whispered into Pya's ears in the first place.

But at first glance, the only intimidating features on Kolo's face is the errant scowl across his face. Indeed, one might find it almost silly that the embodiment of circles - the roundest and softest shape - would serve as the Mags' yoke, but all are convinced when Kolo acridly spits out guilt trips and digs towards his peers with a deeply personal lash. His knowledge and understanding of those around him is acute - well-tempered from years of hypervigilance, spurred on by a traumatic encounter with Bereave in his youth. Sincerely, in his chest, Kolo fully believes the world will fall apart if he isn't carefully managing it, festering in his position alone - too terrified of bias to allow anyone to come close, too hampered by paranoia and fear and self-hate to entertain the idea of companionship. Alone and hated, above it all - where he belonged, sequestered, not a person but a wall for the others to throw themselves against.

But time cracks every shell. Or, maybe, diamonds break through every wall.

It was - an accident. Dijamant turned to him after being rejected by Pyatiugolnik. Anyone would've called it a simple rebound - Kolo would've called it a simple rebound. And it was. But - deep in their chests, they found common ground. Similar stitches. Similar smiles. He'd always found Dij attractive, harbored a fantastical crush, but it all became so real when Dij looked at him with his bright cyan eyes and looked into him, really saw him for who he was, and held the terrified shaking thing inside of Kolo's chest and told him that he loved all of it. And that love, unconditional and strange and all their own - it blew wide open the doors of his world, cast everything into the light, and gave him the room in his chest to believe that he could be something more than everything chaining him in the abyss.

Maybe it's still all insurmountable. But for once in his life, he'd like to give it a try.

Ah. Fuck. Where to start. Well, he could write a novel - he has written novels, actually. He's been infatuated with him for so long, like some forbidden fruit, tempation he couldn't partake in. And then Dij and Pya - and then there Dij was, courting him. It was surreal. It was everything he'd ever wanted. And they... Dij understands him, really understands him. Looks at him and knows him, knows what he wants, knows how to hold him and knows how to pin him down. It drives him insane. He's never felt so seen, so exposed - but it's exhilirating, it's incredible, it makes him sob in relief. He's just... himself, with Dij. Not wearing a mask, not acting as a puppet. Just Kolo, just himself, standing next to just Dij, just himself. It's devotion and love he can barely fathom....

Relationship: Friends

Pere was never (and remains not) his ideal of friendship. He's a nosy selfish sociopath that only cares about his interests and how to extract those interests out of other people like a creepy voyeur. But, um, well, he's kind of nice to hang out in a room with and just... do their own things, separate but together. Pya's... like, sanded him down a little, and he seems better now that Dij is... more tolerable... too. That, of course, doesn't mean Kolo trusts Pere nearly a quarter as far as he can throw him (which, granted, is not that far).

Relationship: Coworker

He knows he fucked up Pya with responsibility and the weight of it. But it was an accident - offhand comments when they were so young, when - he'd rather not think about it. It aches. They've been in each other's lives for almost all of it, with Kolo serving as advisor, enforcer, voice of reason, protector, and support... but they're honestly not all that close, and probably never will be. They're not even really friends, are they? But they were the only person the other had for so long... he hopes Pere's taking care of him.

Relationship: Enemy...ish

It's Kolo's job to keep Polum awake one day a week(ish) so he doesn't fully go down his dreamscape rabbit hole, and it's always... weird. Way back when the agreement was first made, Polum was always angry and snappy with him - and Kolo understood that; many people are snappy with him. But as time went on, Polum - seeing all of his memories through his dreams, and seeing Kolo in person once a week - warmed up to him dearly. Now he's greeted with a chipper grin and gleeful chatter, and it just feels... kind of nice, that someone's that happy to see him. He's still frosty towards Polum - it's hard to forgive the nightmares he cooks up - but maybe they could eventually somehow someday possibly perhaps potentially be friends. Maybe.

♥♥♥♥♡ Ellipsa

Relationship: Friends

They've always kinda been there for each other. The two most similar shapes, even if their personalities look like polar opposites. Ellipsa always makes - a real effort to include Kolo in things. It's sweet. He wishes he was a better friend, nicer to Ellipsa over the years. He's trying to make up for it now. It's easy to feel comfortable around Ellipsa... he hopes the feeling's mutual.

Sometimes Polly is included in their little group. It doesn't work as well as just the two of them.

Relationship: Friends

The literal first other person he'd ever met, as the basis of the Mags - circle and line, the foundational shapes. There's a deep bond there, one that's hard to put a finger on. Kolo knows he can rely on Linija and is drawn to him, and knows Linija has pined after him for years - but neither of them are willing to push their worlds closer together. Does he even want to? Why's that such a hard question to answer? Is it just more comfortable to not risk anything, to stay as they are, distant but affectionate? ...Still, he knows he can rely on Linija for a handful of things - an impressive amount of trust for a recluse of his measure.

♥♥♥♥♡ Juice

Relationship: Friends

He stuck his neck out for Juice when the first arguments over whether or not to let them into the Mags' fold were going around. Frankly, the idea that they would've ever refused Juice and Prox seems incomprehensible in hindsight, and fundamentally-morally wrong. It's why he argued for their inclusion in the first place. He just, uh, didn't expect them to hang out so much. It makes sense that Juice felt somewhat comfortable around him, and it's sometimes fun to get dragged out alongside Juice to see things. It's hard to be close with him in the way Kolo is with Dij or the like, but he's... fun. Yeah. Let's go with that.

♥♥♥♡♡ Trougao

Relationship: Uncomfortable

He respects Trou - for surviving Bereave's abuse for eons - and admires how hard he's been trying to... build himself back up. But it's still - very awkward when Trou seems so idolize Kolo for "saving him" so much. It's not like... that. It took Kolo far too long to work up the courage to help. It's, to be blunt, very embarrassing that he let his stupid - fear of Bereave cripple him so much when Trou desperately needed help. It's not the kind of weakness to admire someone for.

Relationship: Charge?

The Mags aren't supposed to touch the Original Timelines. It's law. Even the COR signed it. And the scandal that would emerge if people found out Kolo, lawman, was breaking that rule - ugh. Look, they just - they needed him. They were going to get shreded by Bereave, and they resonated with him, and it's like - it's like abandoning that part of him that got corrupted to die. He still vists, even now, checking up on Theta and talking to Vuaria - who seems so calm, so collected that Kolo's almost jealous.

Maybe they could be closer, maybe be friends someday. He sees a bit of himself in Farley... uh... not in a bad way, just uh, in that private and kind of repressed way. Uh. Not that Farley's miserable like him or - you know what, he'll stop talking.

Why can you never behave. He swears every time he turns his back on the Hive they start trying to recruit Fragments and poke their noses into regulated Timelines. Stupid... egotistical bee. And his legions of... bees. It's all bees. All the way down.

He did his best but he knew it wasn't going to be good enough. If he could shear Bereave's corruption, he'd have cleaned himself eons ago. The best he can do for Mortie now is just... make sure he's okay and comfortable, and that nobody's bothering him.

Well, they're. Probably friends. He hopes. It's kind of hard to tell, actually. Sometimes he feels guilty for finding Roh attractive solely because he looks so much like Dij, but he's taking that secret to the grave.

Most of their relationship is based in work - with Jubilee as the face of the Coalition of Reality, he speaks to Kolo to ask for help from various Mags, clearing up confusion in records, and informing Kolo of strange activity across the world. That's kind of the extent of their relationship, but Kolo deeply admires Jubilee - how cool-headed he is, how he deals with criticism, how he just puts his fucking head down and gets work done. That's the kind of leader Kolo has always wanted to be....

♥♥♡♡♡ Ovy

Relationship: Acquaintance

He universally regrets Blessing anyone, it's not personal to Ovy. He's nice, beyond the fact that he's a walking reminder of mistakes Kolo made when he was younger. And of the handful of Fragments Blessed by him, he's somewhat relieved that it was Ovy of all people that went ahead and made a Mag cult in his honor. Though, uh, we don't need to keep that cult. Really.
