Biography

Diligent, calm, patient, effective, trustworthy. Adjectives Clarity likes to think of himself as embodying, and ideals he should live up to. Really, it's everyone else that tacks on 'authoritative', 'incredible', 'heroic', 'exemplary', and 'our beloved leader'. It's, uh, it's kind of a lot. Maybe not for someone like Cradle, whose skill in magery and holding Psi together has earned him the nickname of 'angel', but for someone as grounded as Clarity of the Wheel... it's a bit much. He's just trying to do his work, like any good Fragment - try to help his mortals, lead them, prioritize their ability to have a good life. It's actually somewhat concerning if people think he's an exceptional person... this all really just feels like the bare minimum expected of timeless, hyperpowerful gods riddled with idealism and protective instincts.

Maybe it's just that he's more visible than any of his peers. For Clarity is often side-by-side with the mortals under his banner, not just barking orders but executing them in tandem. He's there, pulling on the ropes to raise the ley line towers, heaving up steel girders over a shoulder to carry across construction sites, in the offices with the architects and planning new buildings. He's there, giving speeches to the small militia under his banner, cutting the ribbon on new hospitals, and raising the first glass at the celebratory dinners. Any mortal who hasn't seen, heard, or spoken to Clarity of the Wheel is a rare beast to find across Psi, so enmeshed in their day-to-day lives he is.

The blind praise is all still a little much, though. At least save the compliments for when he's actually finished something or another.

♥♥♥♥♥ Smudged to Sulfur Horizons

Relationship: Partner

His partner. He knows they're a strange duo. There's intensity in Horizons that, frankly, Clarity finds himself a little jealous of. He wouldn't say he feels he represses his emotions, per se... but it's almost addictive to see someone who feels things so much more passionately, and shares them openly. It's attractive to get to see those quieter feelings, too, in more intimate moments that are just between them. It's... nice to be trusted that deeply.

♥♥♥♥♥ Beginnings and Endings

Relationship: Friend

Their little shy nerd-turned-caretaker. Nobody was expecting that turnaround - especially not Clarity, though he welcomes it with open arms. It was hard not to worry for Beginnings for a lot of his early years - he always seemed quiet, vulnerable to manipulation and exploitation. To say it was a relief that the newbie didn't want to go back to Eta was an understatement. But now he's... grown into himself, a lot, and can banter with the rest of them. Suppose he just needed time to warm up and understand the world, first. It was just... strange, being reminded of that stage, being greeted with a fresh Fragment after millennia of assuming every Frag was as old as he.

♥♥♥♥♡ Upon the Cradle of Life

Relationship: Boss

Man, Cradle really wants to be referred to as something a bit more intimate than 'boss'. That he's nursed crushes on the entire set of Psi Fragments is so plainly obvious, Clarity can't believe no one else supposedly picked up on it until Cradle started overtly flirting with them. He's... got some similar problems as to Tower - a bit too much of ego, especially with how much the mortals worship and praise him. But they call him a god... it would be hard not to let that go to your head. At least he doesn't come off as self-centered.

♥♥♥♡♡ Milk and Stone, the Tower

Relationship: ...Friends?

Let's not mince words, or spare Tower's feelings, because Tower certainly wouldn't: this guy is an asshole. It's something he takes pride in, though, so... good for him, Clarity supposes? He isn't one to really demand any person change for him, but it doesn't mean he particularly enjoys being around Tower for extended periods of time. He just isn't as snappy towards Tower as Horizons can be, really. Though, with recent events and Tower's injuries, it's hard not to feel a little softer towards him... maybe there's some more similarities in their attitudes towards work than at first glance.

♥♥♥♥♥ One

Relationship: Friends

Smart, resourceful, hardworking, passionate. What better mix could produce a better person? One is... he deserves help, and friendship, in droves. He's the kind of guy that rinses the cynicism off everyone he meets, he's just so genuine and heartfelt. He's selfless, too, and not in a needy or attention-seeking way - he just, naturally wants to help others, and values them over his own needs. He's a very very sweet person and someone Clarity is glad to call his friend.

♥♥♡♡♡ Aryl

Relationship: Acquaintance

Most people scrunch their muzzles when thinking of Aryl. Clarity won't deny that he does so, too, sometimes. But his secondary feeling is mostly pity - he can't imagine being at such odds with his fellow Natural Fragments, to the point where neither would talk to him. And to try to fill that void with mortals? Yeah, he understands why Aryl is lonely, and why it isn't exactly an easy fix. Just, uh, he doesn't want to be the guy that befriends Aryl.

♥♥♡♡♡ Jubilee

Relationship: Acquaintance

Cradle and Tower insist on handling the Coalition, so despite Clarity's knowledge of Psi and information, he never really got a chance to speak to Jubilee. 'Got' being the keyword, here, as they're moving away from the Coalition entirely, so that ship's properly sailed. He's heard plenty about the Coalition's so-called leader from his various peers, and his impression isn't great... but he also knows to take their complaints with a grain of salt, so at the same time he's a little irritated to have never verified any of it.

Trivia

  • Good with guns, enjoys fiddling with them in his spare time. If he's on land in Psi, he probably has a rifle strapped to his back in case of emergencies.
  • Most of his boats are large yacht-sized, and they usually travel in packs. There's several varieties, including some that are better suited for Psi's swamps, and smaller ones for navigating Psi's trash-filled ocean.
  • Is very very nerdy about water and sealife. Is too shy about his interests to properly infodump about them if prompted, though.
  • You could call him a control freak and you'd be right. Feels uncomfortable unless he understands something thoroughly, so he tends to ask a lot of questions in new environments or when exposed to new ideas. Really wants to pick apart stuff and get into the meat of how it works.
  • Puts so much creamer in his coffee that it's ridiculous. Also dumps so much sugar in his tea.
